Target audience:
This training program is geared primarily toward Human Resources executives, HR professionals and managers, Labor Relations professionals, Employee Relations professionals, and anyone interested in these areas.
Description of Training:
This training provides HR professionals with the knowledge and skills to deal with conflict in the workplace. Widely used in numerous areas, such as medical malpractice conflicts, construction, divorce, family, elder, and labor union conflicts, mediation is now being adopted as the preferred method of dealing with workplace conflicts. HR professionals are well aware that conflict is a normal part of the work environment. Now they have the opportunity to gain the skills to resolve conflicts in a neutral manner while reinforcing the organization's core values. HR professionals will achieve a new level of confidence within their organization and respect by the C-Suite.
Objectives:
Provide HR professionals with an understanding of conflict in the workplace
Methodology:
The objectives of the course will be reached through lectures, role plays, and group discussions.
Presenter Information:
Michele Gousie Geremia, BSW, MS, SPHR is qualified as a trained Mediator in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and as a Human Resources Consultant. She has a Masters Degree in Labor and Industrial Relations with a specialization in Alternative Dispute Resolution, and a Bachelors Degree in Social Work. She received her mediation training at Mediation Works Inc. in Boston, Massachusetts and serves on their Mediation Panel. She has served as a mediator in small claims courts. Her Human Resources experience of over 10 years includes coaching and training on a wide range of workplace issues, including employee morale, team building skills and employee/management relations. She has experience in a range of environments, including financial, manufacturing and health care. Michele holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. She has also earned the Advanced RI Mediator designation. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Rhode Island Mediators Association. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and the Human Resource Management Association of Rhode Island (HRM-RI). She has also served on the Legislative Action Committee. In addition, Michele is a member of the New England Chapter of the Association for Conflict Resolution (NE-ACR).
Frank P. Geremia, BSCE is a trained Mediator and Management Consultant. Over the last 30 years, he has coached and mentored Managers, Executives, Professionals and Technicians. With a background in Engineering and Planning, he has served as a Policy and Technology Analyst and Advisor to Executives, Legislators, and Government Officials and has facilitated agreements on a wide range of issues including environmental and public policy. He is qualified as a trained mediator in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and has co-mediated Divorce and Family Cases in Boston Family and Probate Court and serves on the Mediation Panel for Mediation Works Inc. Frank has earned the Advanced RI Mediator designation. He is a member of the New England Chapter of the Association for Conflict Resolution (NE-ACR) and the Human Resource Management Association of Rhode Island (HRM-RI).
Frank and Michele are the co-founders of the Rhode Island Mediators Association. Frank currently serves as President.
Madeleine Butterfield Bass, Esq. is an Advanced RI Mediator and a former adjunct professor of law at Roger Williams University School of law in Bristol, Rhode Island. She is the President of Mediation Consultants, Inc. in Providence and is licensed to practice law in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. As a former insurance broker, Madeleine brings her knowledge in that field to mediations involving healthcare, particularly medical malpractice claims. She is also experienced in divorce and family mediation. She was trained in mediation and arbitration at Roger Williams University, Pepperdine University, and the American Health Lawyers Association, and she is a member of the New England Association for Conflict Resolution and is on the Board of Directors for the Rhode Island Mediators Association.
CANCELLATIONS / TRANSFERS
Cancellations must be made in writing. A full refund is available up to 21 days before the start of a program for registrations that have not been previously transferred. Cancellations received between 21 and 14 days before the start of a program will receive a refund, less a $75 administrative fee or registrants may make a one-time transfer to another program within a one year period without incurring a $75 administrative fee. No refunds or transfers will be made if a cancellation is made within 14 days of the start of a program. Registrants who transfer their registration more than one time will be charged a $75 administrative fee for each transfer. Transferred registrations are not eligible for refunds. Mouthpeace Mediation LLC reserves the right to cancel a program for any reason and issue a full refund.
